Somehow, Halloweekend always kicks my skinny little butt. I wasn’t expecting to be so exhausted after this weekend, but it was roughhh waking up this morning. I’m not even in the mood to dress up for the REAL Halloween. But that’s okay, I work in the morningggg.

Happy Halloween everyone! Today is my FAVORITE holiday. I loveee to dress up. And I’m usually really good with putting together costumes, ’cause I start wayyy ahead of time. This year, I sorta slacked, partially because my bank account is empty, and partially because I’ve been so freakin’ busy.

But I would say this weekend was definitely a success. Had a great timee, and I managed to get my dress up on without looking too much like a whore. Excuse my French. But we all know what Halloween is for women: an excuse to wear basically nothing. And that’s never been my thing… in public at least.

I tried to boycott the slut rule, but it’s sort of hard when you’re buying already made costumes… I won’t even get into it.

FRIDAY, October 28th:

Friday, I had to work until 3:30, but it was pay dayyyy (YAY) and when I got off, I met Jenn at the mall to try to put together my last minute costumes. You know how when you’re looking for something specific, you can never find it? Well that’s exactly what happened to me… I was looking for a pink, poofy dress, ’cause I wanted to dress up like a doll. Dramatic, thick, fake eyelashes, blush on the apples of my cheeks, big eyes, etc. I thought it would have been ADORABLE. Maybe next year, because my search was unsuccessful.

The mall was a complete fail/wasteee of precious time. We went to Spirit Halloween after, and Jenn bought her costumes, and I ended up purchasing a pirate costume… ARRRRG.

We decided for Friday night, we’d dress up with “scary” themes. She was Freddy Krueger, and Chucky. I thought it turned out SUPER cute. But after such a long day, I didn’t stay out late, especially because I had to work the next morning, and I was already in zombie mode….

SATURDAY, October 29th:

Saturday morning, I had to get up and go to work at 7:30 again. I thought I was gonna die. I was 5 minutes late, and all the therapists were out front waiting for me. My coworker told me that I looked like a zombie, and I said I was in costume for Halloweekend….zombie receptionist. Har har. The morning lasted forrrrrever. But then I went home, took a nap, and put myself together for a funnnn night, ’cause I was gonna be off work Sunday morning. Thank GOODNESS.

Jenn and I were themed again, which I loved. She was a sailor, and I was a pirate. We decided to party hop that night, and stayed out way way wayyyy too late. But we had a good time.

SUNDAY, October 30th:

I was completely exhausted. I slept literally all day, and didn’t do much after. Took a while to recover from the festivities, but I decided two nights out was PLENTY for me, and ditched any other plans I had for my p.j.s and a movieeee.

I know TODAY is Halloween, and anyone going out tonight BE SAFE! Also, if you’re looking for a few last minute/cheap ideas, I can help ya out!!:

I recycled one of my old costumes, from wayyy back in the day. This was a flower costume, and I had my friend Brianna Robinson make me a yellow and white tutu, so it looks like a daisy! Super easy, super cheap, and pretty cute!

Another incredibly easyyyy costume idea: Where’s Waldo! Obviously, I’m missing a beanie, but I had a red and white striped shirt, and my glasses with my converse. Not only is this completely comfortable, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a girl do this…. (;

So this isn’t my most original idea, however, I put it together using stuff I already own. If you can’t already tell…. I’m a nerd. All I needed was a purple sports bra, matching socks, converse, glasses and suspenders… My suspenders aren’t ACTUALLY suspenders, but I had to make due!

Hope this helps. Again, HAPPY HALLOWEENNNN!

Holy Halloween!

I can’t believe September’s almost over, and Halloween is right around the corner… How the heck did this month fly by so quickly!? Normally, I plan veryyy far in advance for Halloween, because it’s one of my favorite holidays and I love to have an original costume.

However, this year, it’s kind of sneaking up on me! And I’m at a loss for ideas…

When I went to the bank yesterday (to cash my paycheck yayyy!), I noticed that where an old Basha’s used to be, they put in a Spirit Halloween Store. My friend D.J. and I have been talking about going costume shopping, so when I saw it, I was PUMPED! I just got paid, and was ready to blow my check on a completely overpriced, cheaply made costume ASAP. So I picked D.J. up and we headed over to Spirit.

We walked in, and I had done a lot of online shopping and brainstorming costume ideas, but I ended up being really disappointed in the selection of costumes… I had found a lot more online, and all the costumes were so cliche. Not to mention, the names of the costumes are SO degrading these days… “Pocahottie?” Really?

I have been thinking of ideas for dark haired costumes, and came up with the following:

-Michael Jackson

-Amy Winehouse

-Edward Scissorhands

-Wednesday Addams

-Queen of Hearts

-Snow White

So, you could say I knew what I was looking for. And, of course, they didn’t have it. I found a few options I was interested in, but nothing that I HAD to have.

$54.99 @ Spirit

$49.99 @ Spirit

$49.99 @ Spirit

$49.99 @ Spirit

So for most of these, I liked the idea better than the costume itself. And I pretty much decided I’m going to put together my own costume. Or go back and try on one of the lame ones… Maybe they’ll look better on, but my problem is, I’m tiny. Most of these are made for women with curves, who actually have boobs. So I’m gonna buy a costume that doesn’t fit, that’s overpriced, cheaply made, and that I’m going to wear for one night? Nahhh. I can make a better one.
